About the Brooklyn Navy Yard
For more than 150 years, the Brooklyn Navy Yard was one of the nation’s most storied naval shipbuilding facilities. During that time, the facility built and launched America's most famous fighting ships, including the USS Maine, USS Arizona, and USS Missouri. Today, the 4 million-square-foot industrial park is home to more than 300 businesses that employ more than 7,000 people. BNY also hosts a large group of working artists in an effort to support NYC’s creative capital.
The Brooklyn Navy Yard Center at BLDG 92 is the public’s gateway to the BNY. Open since 2011, BLDG 92 celebrates the past, present, and future of the Yard, and promotes the role it plays in local job creation and sustainable urban industrial growth.
During your visit, you can learn about the history and innovation of the BNY through exhibits, tours, educational programs, and archival resources. BLDG 92 offers guided bus and bike tours as well as self-guided exhibit tours of BNY. You can even grab a cup of coffee for the journey in the Brooklyn Roasting Company Cafe, located just off the atrium.
Admission is free and the Yard is open Wednesday through Sunday from 12pm to 6pm.
